Spring Wishlist…If Only Money Grew on Trees.

You can reinvent yourself as often as you want…

I don’t know about y’all but usually every year when the seasons change I have a sort of wardrobe/product crisis and find myself loathing everything I own. The newest styles and trends are revealed and I hear this tiny bird on my shoulder saying “revamp and reinvent yourself”. Translation – “Empty your bank accounts and live on the minimum to stay alive”. There is nothing wrong with wanting a new look except that it usually comes with an obnoxious price tag and when you do it as often as I do, theres little time to save up for the next bird on your shoulder. As we begin to see warmer weather here, in the South, this very familiar urge is upon me. I spend my time imagining days without the tax of scrambling for the perfect outfit or makeup look. If only it were that easy. Lately, these are the items in my hypothetical shopping cart.

Spring Palette That Won’t Break the Bank?

IMG_9530.jpeg

My eyeshadow palette obsession is real! Unfortunately so is the high price that normally comes with some of my favorite ones. I always look for palettes that can provide many different looks from full on glam to every day light glam but that also offer something different that I haven’t seen before. Unfortunately there are few products for me at the drugstore that are able to deliver rich, creamy shadows that go on pigmented. I went to Ulta one afternoon looking for new mascara because mine was all out and noticed the sale being put on. Ulta happened to be doing a promotion on Makeup Revolution products where you buy one and get the second for 50% off. There was a similar sale on some NYX products and many others. For awhile now I have heard whispers of Makeup Revolution but never could bring myself to try anything. Many of the drugstore palettes I have tried in the past have proven to be cheap quality and dull. For this reason it took me awhile to break down and finally purchase The Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals palette that I have been eyeing for quite some time.  I just didn’t have much confidence in the product because of past experiences. Boy was I wrong!!

These shadows more than impressed me. There are several colors in here that are pretty unique in my opinion. I have been seeing these colors EVERYWHERE recently for the Spring 2016 season so I have been on the hunt for something that had the pinky/neutral color scheme. Most of these colors blend out perfectly and were extremely buttery when I swatched on my arm.

This is the first row from top to bottom – Bias, Neutral, Personal, Vogue, Trend, New Trial, Tone, and Custom.

This is the second row from top to bottom – Cool, Style, Partial, Mode, Adapt, Buff, Suit and Strong.

Overall Review:

  • Great for everyday use or night time glam
  • Creamy and Buttery when swatched on arm
  • Easy to Use
  • Great Value – $10.00 regularly at Ulta
  • Blends Easily
  • The only shadows I found lacking in pigmentation would be Neutral and Adapt

Rachael’s questions to me:

What is your all time Holy Grail beauty product?

  • This is very difficult for me as I’m sure it is for most people but I think I would have to say my Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I curl my lashes almost every day and couldn’t live without it.

Do you work in beauty or is it a hobby?

  • I am about to graduate from Texas A&M in College Station, Texas so currently it is a hobby.

Where is your favourite place you have visited?

  • I interned in London, England 2 summers ago and instantly fell in love with the vibe and people there. I also visited several other places while overseas but I think London was so diverse and had so much to offer that it was so inspiring.

If you could only shop in one beauty related shop for the rest of your life, where would it be and why?

  • Oh know! I can’t pick! SOS! ….Ok If I have to chose one it would probably be Sephora.

If you could be married to any celebrity, who would it be and why?

  • Wow.. solely based on looks I could name a ton! (Harry Styles – don’t judge me, any of the Hemsworths, Beckham, Chris Pratt. Recently though I fell in love with the show Supernatural and Jared Padalecki stars in it. He is an actor from Texas that I first watched on Gilmore Girls. He seems to be wildly funny (which is very attractive) but, also compassionate and humble. He started a campaign targeted at loving yourself first called “Always Keep Fighting”. He struggles with depression and chose to open up about it about  a year ago to try and bring awareness to the issue. I just think he is an all around cool dude. Doesn’t hurt that he’s tall and has amazing hair.

What is you favourite haircare product or brand?

  • I am actually searching for new ones but I bleach my hair so deep conditioners and color protecting shampoos are awesome. I am currently in love with the Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer treatment. Great for dry, damaged hair.

Pretty and broke or ugly and rich?

  • Sorry….pretty and broke….

What is your dream job?

  • I could actually see myself doing a number of things and being very happy. My two biggest passions would be fashion/beauty and music. I’ve always had a love for fashion. I can remember being young and insisting on wearing my sister’s old skirt from the 80’s. It was acid washed jean with a floral frill at the bottom. I styled it a number of ways and found it cool to be wearing something older than me but, reinventing it. Buying for a large store would be incredible. I could also see myself being a fashion/beauty blogger full time for a company.

What is the most expensive beauty item you currently own?

  • That would be my Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil – worth every penny too at $105. And my Tom Ford Lipsticks.

What is the cheapest beauty item you currently own?

  • Hmmm.. I have a lot of cheap makeup that I love. Maybe my ELF lipsticks or Rimmel Translucent powder.
